Angelo State Announces Thomas as Ass't

Matt Thomas as the assistant sports information director at Angelo State University, sports information director M.L. Stark Hinkle announced.

Thomas replaces Drew Lacy who resigned in July to accept the assistant sports information director position at Lamar University.

Thomas comes to the University from Wichita State, where he served the last season as the graduate assistant. While at WSU, Thomas was the primary contact for the WSU website, goshockers.com, and served as the media contact for the WSU cross country and track and field teams. In addition, he was the primary scorer for women's volleyball, and served as the official statistician for the Missouri Valley Conference volleyball tournament. He also served as the press steward for the 2005 Kansas State High School Athletic Association track and field meet.

Prior to his service at WSU, Thomas was a student assistant at fellow Lone Star Conference school Southeastern Oklahoma for three years. While at SOSU, Thomas was the primary media contact for baseball, along with statistical duties on nearly every sport offered at Southeastern. In addition, Thomas helped create and produce a radio sports show, the Savage Sports Beat, for the SOSU radio station and broadcast several SOSU events, including softball and baseball. Thomas also was a sports writer and sports editor on the staff of The Southeastern, the school newspaper.

Thomas received a bachelor's degree in communications from Southeastern in 2004 and is slated to receive a master's degree in sports administration from Wichita State University in May of 2006.
