Alan Ashby, who has served as assistant sports information director at Cleveland State University since 1999, has been promoted to associate sports information director, effective immediately. The move was announced by CSU Director of Athletics Lee Reed on Monday.
"Alan has proven himself to be a very valuable member of our sports communication staff," Reed said. "His work in developing our athletic web site has been exceptional. This promotion is well deserved."
A 1996 graduate of the University of Virginia, Ashby served as Sports Information Intern (1996-98) and Assistant SID (1998-99) at Penn State before joining the CSU athletic department in the summer of 1999.
Ashby is responsible for coordinating the publicity efforts for the CSU sports of women's basketball, volleyball, softball, men's and women's golf and fencing. He has recently taken on an increased role in coordinating the content development for the athletic department's web site (CSUVikings.com) while also being heavily involved in creating a design template for the department's publications.
Ashby will serve as the Media Coordinator for the 2006 NCAA Men's Golf Regional that will be played May 18-20, 2006 at Sand Ridge Golf Club in Chardon. He previously served as Assistant Media Coordinator for the NCAA Men's Basketball Championship games that were played at CSU in both 2000 and 2005.
