SYRACUSE, NY -- Syracuse University Director of Athletics Dr. Daryl Gross has appointed
Michael Morrison assistant director of athletic communications.
Morrison rejoins the Syracuse staff after serving as an assistant sports information director at George Washington. He will be the primary media contact for women’s basketball, men’s soccer, softball and will assist with football.
Morrison, who earned his master’s degree in public relations at Syracuse University in 2003, worked in the SU office for two years from 2002 through 2004 as a student assistant and full-time intern. He was part of the 2002 NCAA Men’s Basketball East Regional Championship media relations staff for the event hosted by Syracuse University in the Carrier Dome. A 2002 graduate of Ithaca College, Morrison graduated magna cum laude with a bachelor’s degree in sports information and communications. During his undergraduate career, he worked for one year in the Ithaca sports information office and interned at the Office of the Commissioner of Major League Baseball.
For the past year at George Washington, Morrison served as the primary media contact for women’s basketball, men’s soccer, women’s lacrosse and men’s & women’s water polo teams. He was media coordinator for the 2004 Atlantic 10 Men’s Soccer Championship and co-media coordinator for the 2005 Atlantic 10 Women’s Basketball Championship.
Morrison is a member of the College Sports Information Directors of America (CoSIDA) and the CoSIDA Membership Services Committee.
