Widman Takes Northwestern Assistant Post
Adam Widman, presently an assistant director of athletics communications at Kent State University, has been named Northwestern's associate director of media services, effective Monday, Sept. 26.
As associate director, Widman will serve as the primary media services contact for men's basketball, women's lacrosse, women's soccer and women's cross country. He also will serve as the department's liaison with its Web site provider, CSTV.
Widman is a 2001 graduate of Ohio State University, where he earned a bachelor's degree in journalism and public relations. He then served two years as an athletic communications intern at Ohio State, working primarily with men's soccer, softball, gymnastics, fencing and swimming. He also assisted with men's basketball.
As an undergraduate, Widman was a sports reporter, copy editor and columnist for The Lantern, OSU's student newspaper. He also served as an intern for WBNS-TV (CBS) in Columbus.
Widman replaces Mike Mahoney, who accepted the director of athletic communications position at the University of Pennsylvania last month.
