Courtney Walerius has been hired as an assistant director in the Ohio State Athletics Communications Office. Walerius will cover the Buckeye women’s ice hockey, field hockey and women’s rowing teams.
Walerius comes to Ohio State after spending last year at Connecticut, serving as the primary contact for women’s ice hockey, women’s soccer, baseball, men’s and women’s tennis, was well as the secondary contact for the women’s basketball team and the co-contact for men’s soccer.
A 2004 graduate of Minnesota, Walerius worked in the Gophers’ athletics media relations office throughout college. She worked with all 25 UM sports during her tenure as a student assistant.
Walerius also has worked a number of special events, including the American League Division and Championship Series for the Minnesota Twins, the PGA Championship, a NCAA Frozen Four and a NCAA men’s Final Four. She was a freelance writer for the Mighty Ducks of Anaheim at the 2004 NHL All-Star Game.
Walerius replaces Miranda Zink, who left Ohio State in August to take a job outside the sports information field.
