Drew Brown hasbeen named Assistant Director of Athletics for External Affairs at Mercy College. In this newly created position, Brown will oversee and coordinate all athletics communications, marketing and promotions for the department.

With over a decade of experience in NCAA Division I intercollegiate athletics, Drew has established himself as one of the finest athletics communications professionals in the business. He shares our vision of excellence and is primed to have a significant impact on our effort toward moving the program forward. Drew is a welcome addition to the Mercy College Department of Intercollegiate Athletics and Recreation.
Browns most recent collegiate position was as director of athletic communications at Fairleigh Dickinson University (Teaneck, N.J.). He served in this role from 2001-2005, overseeing the public relations efforts and assisting in marketing and promotions for the departments 18-sport NCAA Division I program. During his tenure Brown implemented the departments first Official Athletic Website, while also upgrading publications and technology. He also played an integral role in the planning and coordination of departmental events and served as media liaison for several NCAA and Northeast Conference tournament games. Brown was honored by his peers, receiving two awards for feature stories.
Prior to that Brown served as associate director of sports information at Fairfield University (Fairfield, CT) for five years. At Fairfield he was the primary media contact for eight sports. In 1998 and 1999, Fairfield's women's soccer web site was ranked fifth in the northeast by Soccer Buzz, while Brown was one of 25 to receive Soccer Buzz's National Award of Excellence in Sports Information and was named the top women's soccer S.I.D. in the northeast in 1999.
Brown is a 1995 graduate of St. Peter's College (Jersey City, N.J.) with a bachelor's degree in psychology. He served as a student assistant and a graduate assistant in the sports information department. Brown was a four-year letter winner in baseball for the Peacocks, helping them to a MAAC Championship and NCAA play-in berth in 1994. He was named MAAC co-Player of the Year as a senior and played one summer with the Lethbridge Mounties, an independent team in the Pioneer League. Brown went on to serve as an assistant coach for his alma mater and was inducted into the St. Peter's College Athletic Hall of Fame in the fall of 2000.
During his career, Brown has assisted with the New Jersey Nets statistical crew, Bridgeport Bluefish (Atlantic League baseball) press box operations, Cablevision of Connecticut baseball, basketball and football productions, Metro Atlantic Athletic Conference basketball tournaments and assisted the PGA's media relations operations at the 2001 Senior PGA Championship. He and his wife Paula currently reside in Mohegan Lake, N.Y.
