The University of Arkansas announced the appointment of Deanna Werner as graduate assistant in the Women's Communications Office for the 2006-07 academic year.
Formerly of Illinois College in Jacksonville, Ill., Werner begins her appointment July 1, 2006, and be the primary sport contact for Lady Razorback softball and swimming and diving.
"We're very pleased with the addition of Deanna to our staff," said Associate Athletic Director Bill Smith. "She has both the skills and work ethic to be successful in this demanding environment. Deanna really seems to have a passion for sports information and a desire to remain in the field."
Werner graduated with a bachelor of arts in economics and business with a minor in Spanish in April 2001, from Kalamazoo College in Kalamazoo, Mich. Werner has since been working as the assistant sports information director, and assistant coaches in both softball and volleyball at Illinois College.
