USA Volleyball has announced that Bill Kauffman will join its Communications Department in June.
Kauffman, the former senior director of communications, awards and technology for the American Volleyball Coaches Association, will join B.J. Evans as co-manager in the Communications Department at USA Volleyball.
We were really happy to get someone with Bills extensive volleyball knowledge and experience, said USA Volleyball Executive Director Doug Beal. We think he and B.J. will make a good team.
Kauffman has served as the primary media and public relations contact for the organization the last six years. He has coordinated such tasks as the AVCA national polls, division-specific Facts on File publications, weekly results and distribution of general releases. Kauffman has overseen the AVCA awards program after having direct responsibility for all awards his first two years with the AVCA. He has been responsible for the offices cyber technologies including the task of web master and ensuring internal computer system reliability.
Prior to arriving at the AVCA, Kauffman spent eight years in the athletic media relations office at West Texas A&M University, the last six years as the institutions sports information director.
The decision to leave the AVCA has been a difficult one, said Kauffman, who has been with the organization since 2000. However, I am excited about the new challenges and opportunities that USA Volleyball presents. I hope to continue my relationship with the AVCA in its efforts to grow the sport of volleyball.
Evans came to USA Volleyball from USA Triathlon in March 2006 to act as communications and publications coordinator under Paul Soriano. Soriano left USA Volleyball in early May to join the staff of the Denver Posts online division.
