Kevin Rhodes, the Director of Sports Information at the University of North Carolina at Pembroke, has resigned according to UNCP Director of Athletics Dan Kenney. Rhodes, who joined the Braves family in August 2005, is leaving Pembroke to pursue goals outside of athletics back in his hometown of Charleston, S.C.
"This was a very tough decision," said Rhodes. "We've always been involved with athletics, so deciding to leave the business and UNCP was not an easy choice but I believe it is the right one for me at this point in my life."
Rhodes came to Pembroke from The Citadel in Charleston, S.C., where he was the Associate Director of Media Relations. While at The Citadel, Rhodes earned his Master of Education and worked with all 15 athletic teams, including the 2004 Southern Conference Champion Bulldog baseball team.
Prior to working at The Citadel from 2000-05, Rhodes, who earned a bachelor's degree from Clemson, spent six months during the summer of 2000 with Major League Baseball in New York, N.Y., where he worked as a special events intern on projects specifically related to the 2000 All-Star Game in Atlanta.
