Tom Rudebusch, sports information director at South Dakota Tech, has resigned his position effective Aug. 31. He will continue his association with the university as executive director of the Hardrock Club, the university's athletic fund raising group; and also with a new venture, Hardrock Marketing, LLC, devoted to expanding support to the Hardrocker athletic department.
Rudebusch joined Tech as SID in November of 1980. He has taken the SID office from typewriters and pencils to computer-driven statistical programs and all-encompassing athletic information on the world-wide university athletic Web site. Rudebusch also served as conference SID for the old South Dakota Intercollegiate Conference and the South Dakota-Iowa Conference.
"The department will sorely miss Tom's expertise and leadership in the sports information office," Athletic Director Hugh Welsh said. "We are excited that he will continue to be a part of Hardrocker athletics with his work as executive director of the Hardrock Club and with Hardrock Marketing, LLC. He will now have the time to fully concentrate on athletic fund raising."
The university will be searching for a new sports information director in the near future with the goal of the new individual being on board by Aug. 1.
