Kirbie Britt has been hired as sports information director at Methodist College. Britt, who begins her position on Aug. 1, comes to Methodist after serving as an accountant/ support coordinator at Inter-Rail Management in Centerville, Md., for the past two and a half years.
The sports information director position was vacated when Lee Wright resigned in mid-March and has been filled on an interim basis since then.
We are excited that Kirbie will be joining our staff, said Methodist athletic director Bob McEvoy. Her energy and enthusiasm will serve our athletic department very well here at Methodist College.
In addition to working with Web design and customer service at Inter-Rail, Britt also worked for the Carolina Courage Professional Soccer Organization. As community relations and camp coordinator for the Courage, Britt scheduled player appearances, recorded statistics, and helped develop media guides and game notes.
Britt, a 2003 Methodist graduate who graduated in just three years, also received her master's degree in sports management from the University of Tennessee in June 2005.
As a Monarch student-athlete Britt excelled in both the classroom and on the soccer field. In 2003, she received the prestigious honor of Methodist College Female Scholar Athlete of the Year. That same year she also received the Coaches Award for her role with the women's soccer team.
"I am extremely excited to return" said Britt, "Methodist College is my second home and I am excited to give back to a program that gave so much to me."
One of Britt's main goals in her new role will be to promote the outstanding athletic programs that Methodist offers to the Fayetteville and surrounding communities.
