Rich Moser
, assistant sports information director at Gonzaga University, has been named sports information director at Eastern Illinois University.He will direct all media relations for Eastern's 22 sport intercollegiate program.
Moser replaces Assistant Athletic Director Dave Kidwell, who retired but will remain on the staff in a part-time capacity.
"Rich brings a variety of experiences in media relations to this position. He's worked with national media with the success of Gonzaga's athletic programs and has publicized collegiate sports at all levels of NCAA competition," said McDuffie.
"He is proficient in website maintenance and all desktop publishing systems so is well qualified to advance the technological aspects of our sports information office as we move forward to keep our various constituents well informed on the success of our athletic program via print, electronic and website media outlets."
Moser has been at Gonzaga for the past seven years (1999-2006), and has been the primary media contact for baseball, crew, volleyball and women's basketball, and assisted with media coverage for the nationally ranked men's basketball program.
He published media guides for 14 sports and assisted with the administration of the 2005 women's basketball home game in the National Invitational Tournament.
He was the sports information director at Millsaps (MS) College for 1 1/2 years (1998-1999) where he was responsible for publicizing and producing media guides for 13 sports.
As a graduate assistant at Delta State (1996-1998), Moser served as the media relations director for the NCAA Division II South Regional in softball, and assisted in media coverage for two NCAA II Elite Eight appearances in basketball.
In 1996 he worked in media relations with the Port City Roosters, a Seattle Mariners Class AA affiliate located in Wilmington, NC.
In 1995 Moser served in a similar position with the Baltimore Stallions, who were Grey Cup champions in the Canadian Football League, and worked as an intern with WAMD radio in Aberdeen, MD producing a nightly sports talk show prior to Baltimore Orioles baseball.
He served as a media relations volunteer at the 1995 NCAA First and Second Round men's basketball tournament, was official scorer for the 2001 Spokane (WA) Indians Triple AA team, is a member of the College Sports Information Directors of America and National Collegiate Baseball Writers of America.
He earned a bachelor's degree from Kentucky in 1994 and a master's in education from Delta State in 1998.
