Southeastern Oklahoma Names Reed SID

Trey Reed has been named Sports Information Director at Southeastern Oklahoma State University. He began his duties July 5.

We are very excited that Trey Reed is joining the Southeastern athletics administrative team, said Dr. Jeff Hale, Vice President of Enrollment Management, Marketing and Intercollegiate Athletics. Trey brings an impressive list of accomplishments and skills that will benefit our student-athletes, coaches and athletics programs.

Trey is a rising star in the profession and I look forward to working with him as we strive to build the best athletics department in the Lone Star Conference. Reed comes to SOSU from Midwestern State University, where he was the assistant to SID Bill Powers. He brings a wealth of experience after serving as media coordinator for the 2006 NCAA Division II South Central Softball Regional Tournament hosted by Midwestern. He was a part of event management for the last two soccer national championships held at MSU.

Reed received his Bachelor of Arts Degree in Mass Communication with an emphasis in broadcast journalism. He served as sports editor of MSUs The Wichitan and producer of the weekly television show, Sports Scene. His duties at Midwestern included producing official statistics, along with updating and maintaining the athletics website. He has also been a freelance reporter for the Wichita Falls, Texas, Times Record News.

Reed said, I have been very impressed with Southeastern and the Durant community. I have encountered nothing but friendly faces and helpful people. I look forward to becoming a part of Dr. Hales athletics staff. I love the direction the department is heading and look forward to honoring SOSUs rich history and contributing to its bright future.

This is a great opportunity with a great institution in a friendly community.
Reed spent six years in the military as an administrative specialist before returning to college to pursue his dream of being a coach. His path led instead to working the last four years in sports information and related fields.
