Haynes Takes Union College Post
Hillary Haynes has been named Assistant Sports Information Director at Union College in Schenectady, N.Y. Haynes will assist in all aspects of the media relations effort for the college's 25 varsity teams and will serve as the primary contact for the Division I men's and women's ice hockey programs.
Haynes comes to Union after serving as the Assistant Sports Information Director at Saint Anselm College in Manchester, N.H., where she assisted with all duties of the sports information department including media relations, game-day management, Web site maintenance, publication design and statistics. In the fall, Haynes covered all 21 varsity teams while a search for a sports information director took place. She later served as the primary contact for men's and women's ice hockey, women's lacrosse and women's tennis.
"We are thrilled to have Hillary join our department," commented Union Sports Information Director Eric McDowell. "In her young career, she already possesses a wealth of knowledge in many aspects of the sports information field. She is enthusiastic and passionate about the profession, and we are very fortunate that she selected Union College to serve our student-athletes and staff."
Haynes spent two years at the University of Vermont where she was the main statistician for men's and women's ice hockey, and assisted with basketball, softball and lacrosse. She also served on the statistics staff for the Vermont Principals' Association high school ice hockey playoffs and as a media relations staff member at the 2004 America East Basketball Finals.
A native of Saint Albans, Vt., Haynes earned a bachelor's degree from the Crane School of Music at SUNY Potsdam in 2003. She is a member of CoSIDA (College Sports Information Directors of America) and ECAC-SIDA (Eastern College Athletic Conference Sports Information Directors' Association).
