New Orleans Picks Broussard for Ass't AD Post

Rob Broussard, director of media relations for the Sun Belt Conference, will join the University of New Orleans Department of Athletics as Assistant Athletic Director for Media Relations.

"Rob will help us spread the story of Privateers Athletics throughout the community," UNO Athletics Director Jim Miller said in making the announcement. "We are very fortunate to have someone of Rob's experience and capabilities join our staff. He will upgrade us tremendously in the areas of media relations, website development and broadcast properties."

Broussards responsibilities at the Sun Belt Conference included handling publicity efforts for football, mens and womens basketball, baseball, and golf. He also helped maintain the leagues website (sunbeltsports.org) and directed publicity efforts for numerous championships.

Rob has been a key contributor for us and has certainly paid his dues over the last several years, and he is very deserving of this opportunity, Commissioner Wright Waters said. It is proof that good things happen to good people, and I know he will be an outstanding addition for the University of New Orleans. We wish he and Susan all the best.

I am so thankful to Commissioner Waters for giving me the opportunity to work for such a great league, Broussard said. I have had the good fortune to work with a lot of talented people, and I have developed so many positive relationships that can only help me down the road. I am really looking forward to working with Jim Miller and the University of New Orleans. There are a lot of good things happening on the Lakefront, and I will hopefully be able to help spread that message.

Prior to joining the league, Broussard briefly lived in Orlando, Fla., where he served as a high school football stringer for the Orlando Sentinel and worked at the Division II Sunshine State Conference. Before moving to Orlando, he worked for four years at the University of Louisiana at Lafayette. He was the Assistant Sports Information Director for nearly three years after working as a student assistant. While at UL Lafayette, he was the baseball SID for the Ragin Cajuns at the 2000 College World Series.

A 1999 graduate of UL Lafayette, Broussard is married to the former Susan Seabrook.
