Hobart & William Smith Colleges Picks O'Connor

Megan OConnor will serve as Assistant Director of Athletic Communications, Hobart and William Smith Colleges Director of Athletic Communications Ken DeBolt announced.

Megan comes highly recommended to the Colleges having worked for two top-notch sports information offices, DeBolt said. I have no doubt that she will be a great asset to the Herons and the Statesmen, as well as the greater campus community.

OConnor will assist in the promotion of all 22 varsity teams at Hobart and William Smith, serving as the primary contact for Hobart and William Smith soccer, Hobart hockey, and William Smith lacrosse.

OConnor joins the staff after serving two years as the sports information graduate assistant at Southern New Hampshire University, where she also earned a masters degree in sport administration. At SNHU, she worked with all 16 sports, including baseball, basketball, ice hockey, lacrosse, soccer, softball, and volleyball.

Prior to that, OConnor earned a bachelors degree in physical education from Plymouth State University in 2004. At Plymouth, OConnor was a defensive specialist on the varsity volleyball team and worked for three years as a student assistant in the sports information office.

In addition, OConnor acted as an assistant volleyball coach this past spring at the New Hampshire Technical Institute of Concord, N.H., and helped lead the mens volleyball team to a Yankee Conference championship. She also has been active with the Manchester (N.H.) Family YMCA, where she was an aquatics instructor and coached youth basketball.

A native of Walworth, N.Y., OConnor was a three-sport athlete and is a 2000 graduate of Wayne Central High School. She currently resides in Rochester, N.Y.
