Monica Shepherd Added to Patriot League Staff
Patriot League Executive Director Carolyn Schlie
Femovich announced Monday the hiring of Monica Shepherd as the Patriot
League Media and External Relations Assistant.
"We are very pleased that Monica will be joining the Patriot League office
staff," Femovich said. "Her previous experiences at Boston University as
a student-athlete and a member of the Student-Athlete Advisory Committee
(S.A.A.C.), along with her media relations background will be an asset for
the League. I look forward to the many contributions Monica will bring to
the work of the League office."
Shepherd will assist in all areas of media and external relations, serving
as the primary contact for various Olympic sports. She will also
contribute to the Patriot League's championship administration.
Shepherd graduated from Boston University this past May with a degree in
advertising, concentrating in media planning and buying, design and sports
communication. While at Boston University, Shepherd was a four-year
member for the Terriers' women's tennis team, serving as a captain her
junior and senior years. She also worked with College Tennis Online to
develop a Boston University website for recruiting purposes.
As a member of Boston University's S.A.A.C., the native of Austin, Texas
organized a welcome back event for 400 student-athletes and developed
promotional plans to increase attendance at athletic events.
During the summer of 2005, Shepherd worked at the University of Texas as a
marketing and communications representative. While at Texas she designed
logos and a website for the Center for Lifelong Engineering Education, as
well as brochures, magazine and newspaper ads, postcards and other
promotional items and wrote press releases.
Previous experience for Shepherd includes a copywriting position at the
Boston University Ad Lab, where she wrote copy and headlines for newspaper
ads.
