Rollns Collins Announces Staff Additions

The Rollins College Sports Information Office has rounded out the 2006-07 staff with the hiring of Assistant Sports Information Directors Jessica Goldstein and Matt Rowley, announced Director of Sports Information Nate Weyant. Goldstein graduated from the University of Florida in 2003 with a Bachelor of Science in Magazine Journalism. Shes held positions at numerous publications including Palm Beach Illustrated, Palm Beach Society and Oxendine Publishing. Jessica was also the Vice President of Communications for her sorority, Alpha Chi Omega. In 2005, Jessica graduated with a Master of Arts in Mass Communication from UF. Because of her avid love of sports, Jessica elected to write her Masters thesis on a tennis-related topic. The title of her thesis was Tennis + Sex = Increased Popularity: A Content Analysis of the Covers of TENNIS Magazine from 2000 to 2004. Goldstein was born and raised in West Palm Beach, Fla. Her love of sports started at an early age when her dad, U.S.P.T.A. tennis pro, taught her to play tennis at the age of three. She starred in many junior tournaments and was ranked in the state of Florida. Jessica continued her tennis career through high school, staying undefeated her junior and senior years on the team. She also won First Team All-District honors her senior year. In her undergraduate career at the University of Florida, Jessica played on the tennis team for her sorority, where she led her team to a first place finish. Rowley was born in Camarillo, Calif. and lived there through his high school years. He grew up in a sports-oriented family as well; his father was and still is a Physical Education teacher for a middle school in Camarillo, and both of his older sisters were successful soccer players through their high school years. He grew up playing various sports including soccer, baseball, basketball, and cross country. In high school he was a running back and punter for the football team, midfielder and team captain for the soccer team, high jumper for the track and field team, and outfielder for the baseball team. He also worked as a Program Director for Skyhawks Sports Academy, where he coached sports camps for three summers. Matt graduated from Drury University in Springfield, Mo. in May 2005 with a degree in Sports Management. His Sports Information career began in the fall of 2005 working for the offices of California Lutheran University in Thousand Oaks, Calif. and California State University, Los Angeles. He helped cover football, mens and womens soccer, and mens and womens basketball at Cal Lutheran and was the primary contact for baseball in the spring. He worked at basketball and volleyball events at Cal State L.A., including the NCAA Division II Volleyball Regional Tournament. Rowley was hired in the summer of 2006 and moved across the country for his first full-time position in Sports Information. The Rollins Sports Information Department produces media guides, complies statistics and manages Rollins Athletics official Web site, RollinsSports.com. The staff of three is also charged with the promotionRollins 21 varsity sportsand media relations for the athletic department.
