Valdosta State Names Steadman Assistant SID

Jessica Steadman has been named assistant director of Sports Information at Valdosta State University by Athletic Director Herb Reinhardt on Tuesday.

Steadman, who assumed her duties on Tuesday, joins the VSU athletic staff from Valparaiso University, where she has been finishing her masters degree in sport administration. The Chicago native completed her undergraduate studies at Benedictine University in Lisle, Ill.

While at Benedictine, Steadman starred for the Eagle volleyball program, leading the program to three NCAA Tournament appearances in her four years at the school. She also worked with The Candor, Benedictines award-winning student newspaper, where she received statewide honors for her news reporting.

Were extremely excited about adding Jessica to the athletic staff, said Reinhardt. She has a strong background in the media and sports information area. I feel she will be a tremendous asset to the athletic department.

Steadman also spent a season with the DuPage Dragons of the Central Illinois Collegiate Summer League, serving as the teams media relations director. Likewise, Steadman spent one year working with The Prairie State Athlete, a regional newspaper that covered the Northern Illinois-Iowa Conference.

Im excited about joining the staff a Valdosta State as well as the Valdosta community, said Steadman. I look forward to growing my experience in the sports information field while promoting Blazer athletics.

Steadman will handle sports information duties for the Valdosta State volleyball, womens basketball, softball, mens tennis and womens tennis programs.
