Rowland Takes Assistant Post at Angelo State

Ronald Rowland has been named the sports information assistant at Angelo State University, announced Monday.  Rowland begins his duties at ASU this Friday, taking over for Matt Thomas who left the school earlier in the summer to go to the University of Tulsa.

Rowland, a native of Houston, returns to the field after an eight-year hiatus.  A 1996 graduate of the University of Texas with a bachelor's degree in journalism, Rowland spent his first two years out of college as the sports information director at Pacific University in Forest Grove, Ore.

At ASU, Rowland will be the primary contact for the Rambelle volleyball program and the Ram men's basketball and baseball programs. In addition, he will assist with the remaining eight ASU programs.

While at Texas, Rowland was the top media relations student assistant working with women's athletics and also served as a reporter for the student newspaper. At Pacific, he ran a one-man office promoting all 18 Boxer sports in addition to advertising sales.

Ronn and his wife, Rebecca, have one daughter, Holly (7).
