Aldridge Named TSAC SID of the Year

The TranSouth Athletic Conferences (TSAC) has selected Union University sports information director Steven Aldridge at the 2005-06 Sports Information Director of the Year.

"Steven Aldridge is one of the finest young men in the country, doing the job of sports information. He is knowledgeable, organized, and committed to doing a great job in everything that he does," said Union Athletic Director Dr. David Blackstock. "However, Steven's greatest attribute is his tireless work ethic and his dedication to excellence. We at Union are very proud of Steven for this accomplishment and more importantly for his friendship."

The award was given to Mr. Aldridge at the conferences annual meetings on August 1, 2006 in Henderson, Tenn., at Freed-Hardeman University. The award was instituted this year to recognize the significant efforts that the sports information directors do to promote the teams of the TranSouth.

Aldridge, a 1997 graduate of Union University, has been the SID at Union since 2000. Before coming back to his alma mater, Aldridge was the Box Office Manager for the West Tennessee Diamond Jaxx, the AA affiliate for the Chicago Cubs.

Aldridge has served Union and the conference in several areas over the years, and has also assisted the National Association of Intercollegiate Athletics (NAIA) in statistical services for the NAIA Division I Women's Basketball Championship since 2000. He has also worked with the NAIA for NAIA's National Softball Championships in Decatur, Ala. and served as a coordinator for various NAIA-SIDA publication contests.

Aldridge serves the TranSouth as its SID for baseball, softball and cross country and produces a weekly release for all sports.

Aldridge and his wife Stacy live in Jackson and have one daughter, Haley.
