John Farina, a 20-year veteran of athletic media relations, has been named Sports Information Director (SID) of Emory University.

"We're thrilled to have John Farina join the Emory staff," said Betsy Stephenson, Emory's Director of Athletics and Recreation.  "His experience will allow us to serve our Emory constituents, particularly our student-athletes, at the highest level."

Farina's extensive career also includes stints with Bowling Green University and Lake Superior State University.

Since 2004, Farina has worked for the Montgomery Advertiser (Ala.) newspaper, collecting and coordinating high school athletics data for a sports-hungry audience.

A Michigan State graduate, Farina is the co-author of Magic Moments: A Century of Michigan State Basketball.
