Potter Joins IUPUI Staff

The IUPUI Department of Intercollegiate Athletics announced today that Bill Potter will be joining the Sports Information Office. Potter spent the past nine months as the Media Relations Assistant for the Indianapolis Indians during the 2006 baseball season.

While with the Triple-A affiliate of the Pittsburgh Pirates, Potter assisted with the day-to-day media operations, while also writing the 140-page media guide among other tasks. Prior to that, Potter volunteered to work in the Indiana University media relations office and with the Indianapolis Colts game day crews. While at IU, he aided game day operations for football, mens basketball and mens soccer.

Potter graduated from Boston College in 2005 with his Bachelor of Arts in Communications, Broadcasting and Journalism. He has also studied at the Sports Institute at Boston University and at the University of New South Wales in Sydney, Australia. While studying at BC, he also interned with the WBZ Sports Department in Boston and with the Falmouth Commodores of the Cape Cod Baseball League.

I am pleased that Bill has elected to join us in advancing IUPUI Jaguars Athletics, IUPUI Athletics Director Michael Moore said. His experience and enthusiasm make him a great addition to our staff.

The Indianapolis-native will serve as the primary contact for womens basketball, volleyball, mens and womens swimming and diving and mens and womens tennis. He takes over for Kevin Buerge, who accepted a similar post with the NCAA in August.
Potter will join Ed Holdaway in the SID office and is slated to begin his duties on Oct. 9.
