Nairem Moran has been hired as the new Sports Information Director at St. Marys (Md.) College announced by Director of Athletics, Scott Devine.
She replaces Shawne McCoy who was promoted to an Assistant Athletic Director and will now oversee Athletics and Recreation Center operations, including the aquatics center; sports information; the equipment room; and intramural sports. McCoy had been the Sports Information Director at SMCM for the past six years.
We are delighted to have an alum take over our sports information office, said Devine. I have no doubt that Nairem will be able to build on the foundation laid out by Shawne and her familiarity with the campus and the athletics department should make for an easier transition.
By no means is she a stranger to the St. Marys campus. A 1999 graduate of SMCM, Moran was a two-sport athlete in field hockey and womens lacrosse and left the college with a bachelors in Biology.
It is a privilege to return to my alma mater, exclaimed Moran. I thank Mr. Devine for affording me this opportunity and I look forward to take the sports information office to the next level as Seahawk athletics continue to excel.
Moran comes to St. Marys by way of Presbyterian College in Clinton, SC where she served as a sports information intern for the last year and a half. During her time in South Carolina, Moran also earned her masters degree in Sports and Entertainment Management from the University of South Carolina.
Prior to Presbyterian, she served as the first full-time Assistant Sports Information Director at The College of New Jersey in Ewing for five years. Moran was the primary contact for field hockey, womens soccer, mens and womens swimming & diving, womens lacrosse, and softball, while helping with other teams as needed. She had the opportunity to be the media relations director for the 2005 NCAA Division III Womens Lacrosse Championship hosted by TCNJ.
Moran also held sports information positions at Middlebury College in Vermont and Bryn Mawr College in Pennsylvania.
Moran currently resides in Lexington Park, MD.
