CoSIDA Board Minutes
January 11, 2007
I. President Doug Dull did a roll call.
II. Third Vice President Justin Doherty said that the committee gathering information on a possible Executive Director position had a draft or shell of a proposal. He said it contained information on a way to pay for the position, projected salary and expenses, a job description and other information. He said it wasn't totally detailed but he said he would have it ready to discuss by the next full board call on January 25. He said the committee needs input from people outside the committee. Dull commended the committee and thanked the members for their work.
III. Doherty said he had conducted a conference call with the Special Awards Committee. He said the committee was in favor of expanding the CoSIDA Hall of Fame to four inductees each year two college division and two university division. He said the committee was also in favor of rewording the criteria for the Esposito Award to open it up where someone could be selected to receive the award.
IV. Dull said the search for a new Director of On-line Services was moving forward. He said he had gotten feedback from that committee and that they were close to being ready to announce finalists. He said he wanted to name three to four finalists and interview them by conference call for approximately 30 minutes each.
V. Dull asked for any committee reports from the liaisons. At Large Representative Judy Willson said she had talked to Debbie Copp with Committee on Committees and said they would have an updated committee membership list for the website and Digest soon. College Division Representative Jim Seavey said the Digest Editorial Committee is scheduling a meeting.
VI. First Vice President Charles Bloom said he had a teleconference with the Workshop Program Committee prior to the holidays. He said NCAA President Myles Brand was confirmed as a speaker at the San Diego Workshop, as well as two conference commissioners who will serve on panels. He also discussed the possibility of having Don Ranly of the Missouri School of Journalism do a writing panel in San Diego, as he has at some past workshops. The board was in favor of pursuing the possibility.
VII. Second Vice President Nick Joos said he was working on the social activities for San Diego. He said he was working to lineup facilities for the softball, basketball and golf outings.
VIII. The board discussed a donation to the scholarship fund set up in memory of Pete Nevins.
IX. Moore discussed the openings on the CoSIDA Board for 2007-08 and said he had forwarded information asking for nominations to be published on the CoSIDA website and in the Digest.
X. The board discussed the 50th Anniversary CoSIDA logo. There were several suggestions offered and Dull said he would forward them to Fred Nuesch who is over the 50th Anniversary Committee.
