Where does your salary fit into the “big picture” and how do you rank among your fellow professionals? As an organization, CoSIDA has been asked for salary data, but has not been able to provide meaningful numbers on a national basis.
According to Parade magazine’s annual feature, “What People Earn?”, in 2006, the median annual income was $34,892.00. That means that 50 percent of those who participated in Parade’s national survey earned more than and the other 50 percent earned less than $34,892.00.
In its May 2006 report, the United States government’s Bureau of Labor Statistics calculated the annual average wage of a public relations specialist (
http://www.bls.gov/oes/current/oes273031.htm) in the category of colleges, universities and professional schools to be $46,310.
The following 15-question survey is an attempt to provide information to the membership. The survey is meant to look at annual compensation from the employee’s, not your supervisor’s, point-of-view.
You should be able to complete the survey in less than 10 minutes. Many will be able to complete the survey in five minutes.
The survey will be available to CoSIDA members using your login information through the end of January. You are allowed to complete the survey accurately once and only once.
The collected data will be sanitized to create anonymity and then interpreted with a goal to present the findings to CoSIDA members in the spring of 2008.
