Southeastern Tabs Gillingham Assistant Sports Information Director

Southeastern Louisiana Assistant Athletic Director for Media Relations Matt Sullivan announced the addition of Charlie Gillingham as Assistant Sports Information Director.

Gillingham, a Chicago native, comes to Hammond after a recent stint as an intern with the Atlanta Braves' media relation office. Gillingham joins Sullivan and Associate Director of Media Relations Kemmler Chapple on the Southeastern SID staff. Gillingham will serve as the primary contact for the Southeastern volleyball, track and field and baseball programs, while also assisting with the University's other athletic programs.

"We're very excited to have Charlie join our staff," Sullivan said. "He brings tremendous energy to our office and will be a great asset to the athletic department. His prior experience at both the collegiate and professional levels made him an obvious choice to round out our staff and we're glad to have him on board."

Prior to his time with the Braves, Gillingham spent six months as a media relations intern at the University of Memphis. While at Memphis, Gillingham served as the primary contact for the men's soccer program, as well as the university's men's and women's golf teams. Gillingham contributed to the 2006 men's and women's soccer media guide, which was tabbed as the nation's best multi-sport guide by the College Sports Information Directors of America.

Gillingham got his start in the collegiate ranks at Indiana, where he graduated with a bachelor's degree in journalism in 2006. While at IU, he worked as a student assistant in the university's Sports Information office, where he worked primarily with the golf and baseball programs.

While at Indiana, Gillingham also spent time as an intern with the Chicago Cubs and ESPN Radio. During his time with the Cubs, he served as an editorial assistant on team publications and helped prepare game notes.
