WALTHAM, Mass. –Senior forward Anton Axelsson of Jacksonville University and senior goalie Jamison Dague of Ohio Wesleyan University head the 2007 ESPN The Magazine Academic All-America® Men's Soccer Team, as selected by the College Sports Information Directors of America (CoSIDA).

A Vaxjo, Sweden native, Axelsson led his team to the Atlantic Sun tournament championship game with 16 goals and four assists for 36 points. He has a 3.98 GPA in psychology and philosophy.

Dague led Ohio Wesleyan to a 15-5-2 record and an NCAA Division III tournament bid. The Bexley, Ohio native is a three-time Academic All-America and a repeat first-team selection with a 3.96 GPA in politics and government. He compiled a 0.75 goals against average with 10 shutouts.

The University Division first team features two players with perfect 4.0 grade point averages or higher: The College of William and Mary's Ryan Overdevest and Dartmouth's Nick Christman. Christman, Jeff Stepan of St. John's University and George Josten of Gonzaga University are repeat first-team selections.

On the College Division first team, Nick Evans of Incarnate Word University and James Hayers of Lynn University each have a 4.0 GPA.

Sixteen of the 23 first-team selections have grade point averages of 3.90 or better, and the average GPA of the athletes selected for the first team is a sensational 3.895.

The Academic All-America® Teams program honors 816 male and female student-athletes annually who have succeeded at the highest level on the playing field and in the classroom. Individuals are selected through voting by CoSIDA, the College Sports Information Directors of America; a 2,000-member organization consisted of sports public relations professionals for colleges and universities in the United States and Canada.

To be eligible, a student-athlete must be a varsity starter or key reserve, maintain a cumulative grade point average of 3.20 on a scale of 4.00, have reached sophomore athletic and academic standings at his/her current institution and be nominated by his/her sports information director. Since the program’s inception in 1952, CoSIDA has bestowed Academic All-America honors on more than 15,000 student-athletes in Divisions I, II, III and NAIA covering all NCAA championship sports.
