COSIDA BOARD CALL MINUTES - November 15, 2007

COSIDA BOARD CALL MINUTES - November 15, 2007
President Charles Bloom did a roll call.

I. Director of Marketing Ed Carpenter said that the ESPN contract for the Academic All-America program was with Mike Humes. He said he was trying to get in touch with Rosa Gatti to help get the process wrapped up.

II. Carpenter said the Marketing Committee had met on a conference call and had discussed a new logo design for CoSIDA. He said the committee felt it would be worthwhile to bring in an independent design company to assist with the design but said that could likely cost $15,000-$20,000. He said he could see if any of our current corporate partners would be interested in being involved. There was discussion that at a time where CoSIDA will be expending a great deal of money on the hiring of an executive director, that a less expensive option might be better for the organization. Second Vice President Justin Doherty said he would like to see an opportunity offered to campus designers to submit designs. Past President Doug Dull said he would like to offer a Request For Proposal and let any interested parties get involved.

III. Information on two different professional development  programs was distributed to the board and Bloom said he would like everyone to review them and be ready to discuss them on the December board call.

IV. Judy Willson gave an update on the Executive Director process. She said it was moving forward. She said the selection was down to the final five and that the committee felt good about the pool of candidates. She said the committee is about to begin its first round of calls and plans to give the Board three names by December. Bloom thanked Willson and the committee members for their service.

V. Bloom said that he wanted items on the Tampa Workshop to be posted on the website and run in the Digest as often as possible. He also encouraged the board members to submit items and articles for the Digest and website.

VI. The Tampa Bay Rays will be playing the Boston Red Sox while CoSIDA is in Tampa in 2008. He said the Rays said tickets would be $12 each. There was discussion of a possible night for a CoSIDA tie-in.

VII. Bloom talked about a Media Roundtable event at the BCS National Championship Game. He also talked about CoSIDA’s role in national issues.

There was no other business and the call was adjourned.
