Leddy, King, Ambrose and Garceau to be Honored at ECAC-SIDA Workshop in June

BALTIMORE, Md. - At the 52nd Eastern College Athletic Conferences Sports Information Directors Association (ECAC-SIDA) Workshop in Baltimore in early June, ECAC-SIDA will honor four distinguished professionals from the ranks of sports information and the media, it has been announced by ECAC-SIDA President Kent Cherrington.

 A pair of ECAC-SIDA Past Presidents, Rick Leddy of Southern Connecticut and Ann King of The College of New Jersey, will be honored as the recipients of the prestigious ECAC-SIDA Irving T. Marsh Awards, recognizing service and contributions to the field of sports information and media relations. Leddy will be honored as the University Division Award while King is the winner of the College Division Award.

In addition, Josh Ambrose will be honored as the recipient of the Bob Kenworthy Good Person Award while Scott Garceau of WMAR-TV in Baltimore will be honored as the recipient of the ECAC-SIDA Media Award.

After 36 years as the SID at Southern Connecticut, Leddy retired in February. A graduate of Southern Connecticut, he was a student assistant in the Owls SID office for four years. Upon graduation in 1971, he became the SID at his alma mater. In 1979-80, he served as the president of ECAC-SIDA. During his years at Southern Connecticut, he has worked with the Owls nine national championship teams. In addition, he has served as the board secretary for the National Association of Basketball Coaches (NABC).

A nine-year member of the ECAC-SIDA Board, King has been an SID since she graduated from Drew University in 1986. After six years as the SID at Drew, she was named as the SID at the College of New Jersey in 1992. Named to the post of ECAC-SIDA secretary in 1995, she served in that role until 2002 when she joined the presidential rotation. She was the president of ECAC-SIDA in the 2003-04 year. A former member of the Board of Directors of the College Sports Information Directors of America (CoSIDA), King was honored as the winner of the Warren Berg Award in 2003, presented annually to a prominent SID from the ranks of the College Division. Last summer, she was inducted into the CoSIDA Hall of Fame.

Josh Ambrose, a long-time Account Representative at Franklin Graphics in Nashville, Tenn. is the winner of the ninth Bob Kenworthy Good Person Award Ambrose has been an important part of ECAC-SIDA Workshops for the last 20 years. The award is named in honor of Bob Kenworthy, the long-time SID at Gettysburg College.

Scott Garceau, the Sports Director at WMAR-TV in Baltimore, is the winner of the ECAC-SIDA Media Award. A native of Michigan, he became the Sports Director at WMAR in 1980 and has thrived in that role. Prior to his assignment in Baltimore, he was the Sports Director at KGGM-TV in Albuquerque, New Mexico for four years. He also spent four years as a sports anchor at WLUC-TV in Marquette, Michigan. In addition to his work at WMAR-TV, Garceau has been the play-by-play announcer for WMARs very successful Lacrosse Game of the Week which has been aired on ESPNU.

All four honorees will be presented with their awards at the ECAC-SIDA Awards Dinner on Thursday, June 7 at the Holiday Inn in Baltimore.
