KENT, Ohio - Alan Ashby, who has more than a decade of experience in collegiate athletics, has been named the Director of Athletic Communications at Kent State University. The hiring was announced by KSU Director of Athletics Laing Kennedy on Wednesday. Ashby will assume his role at Kent State beginning on Monday, May 21.
Ashby will oversee all of the media relations efforts for Golden Flashes athletics while serving as the primary contact for football.
"We are pleased to add someone of Alans caliber to our department," Kennedy said. "The passion and enthusiasm he brings to Kent State will help our media relations efforts on all fronts."
A native of Lynchburg, Va., Ashby has spent the past eight years in the Cleveland State Sports Information Office, holding the title of Assistant SID for six years before being promoted to Associate in the fall of 2005.
