Pacific's Timm Named NWC SID of the Year

SPOKANE, Wash. - Pacific University's Blake Timm has been selected by his peers within the Northwest Conference as the recipient of the 2006-07 NWC Sports Information Director of the Year.

Timm, who has served as the Boxer's SID since 1999, is second individual to win the award, which began in 2005-06.

"Much of what I have learned about the sports information business is from the people I have worked with in this conference over the last eight years," said Timm. "Considering that, I am quite honored and humbled to have been chosen by those same colleagues and friends."

Timm's service to his institution and his colleagues around the conference has been widely recognized. He has produced several award-winning media guides, including his 2006 Men's and Women's Soccer combined guide that was selected as "Best in the Nation" by the College Sports Information Directors of America (CoSIDA). His 2005 Boxer Swimming Media Guide was also a "Best in the Nation" winner. In addition to his media guides, Timm has been recognized for his writing. His 2005 feature story entitled "Pacific's Connections to the Olympics" was judged "Best in the Nation" as part of the CoSIDA Fred Stabley Writing Contest.

He served as the primary media contact this spring for the NWC tennis tournament in Yakima, Washington.

"Blake's commitment to professionalism is greatly appreciated throughout the conference," said one NWC SID. "He not only serves his teams and student-athletes well, his prompt and professional work covering his home contests is a great resource for the visiting school's SID."

Outside of the conference, Timm has served on the CoSIDA Board of Directors for three years, completing his term this spring. During his term he was responsible for creating the organization's Rising Star Award and coordinated a Salary and Job Responsibility Survey for Division III sports information offices.

He has also served as a District Coordinator for the CoSIDA Academic All-America Committee and was on the media relations staff for this year's West Coast Conference basketball tournament in Portland, Oregon. In addition, he is the official statistician for the Portland Timbers soccer club (USL First Division) and is a member of the National Association of Sports Public Address Announcers (NASPAA).

Timm is a 1998 graduate of Pacific. He and his wife Melissa have a daughter, Sydney.
