ROMEOVILLE, Ill. - Longtime Lewis University Sports Information Director Mickey Smith has resigned his post effective May 18 to pursue a career in the financial services industry.
Smith, Lewis SID for the past 13 years, has worked in sports information for 18 years. He began his sports information career as an intern, spending time in the sports information offices of Michigan State and Southern Illinois before accepting the sports information coordinator position at Millikin (Decatur, Ill.). Smith served two years at Millikin prior to taking the job at Lewis.
"Mickey has been a valuable member of the Lewis athletics staff for a long time," said Lewis Director of Athletics Dan Schumacher. "We will certainly miss him and his contributions to the department, and we wish him the best of luck in his new career."
Assistant Sports Information Director Ron Deuter has been named interim SID until a replacement for Smith is hired.
