Internet Consulting Services, the College Sports Information Directors of America's Internet services provider, has been selected as the winner of CoSIDA's 2007 Lester Jordan Award.
The Lester Jordan Award is presented to an individual (or company) for exemplary service to CoSIDA's Academic All-America Award program and the promotion of the ideals of being a student-athlete. ICS made a significant contribution to CoSIDA's Academic All-America program when it made the program's nominating and voting procedures possible online. ICS will receive its award at CoSIDA's 50th Anniversary workshop this summer in San Diego.
Founded in 1996 by Jeff Rubin, Syracuse, N.Y., based ICS has spent the past 11 years providing clients with innovative technological solutions for their Web needs. Using its Web-based content management solution SIDEARM, ICS has developed Web sites for nearly 100 athletic programs and conferences at the NCAA DI, DII, DIII, and NAIA levels across the United States.
ICS partnered with CoSIDA in 2002 to use its SIDEARM technology on the CoSIDA Web site originally as a content management tool for the organization, but the relationship has expanded CoSIDA's capabilities with a collaborative effort over the past five years. The CoSIDA site now has a logo management library, a job center, and most recently the launch of an online nomination, voting and selection process for the CoSIDA Academic All-America program. By not having to mail in ballots or send out nominations, the Academic All-America component has not only saved CoSIDA and its members money, but has made this a very manageable process for the award coordinators. ICS and CoSIDA are continuing to look to the future of new areas where the technology capabilities of ICS can help make CoSIDA a more efficient organization and increase the benefits to its membership.
