Job Seekers & Job Holders Tips in San Diego

With the annual CoSIDA Workshop days away, here are some tips to Job Seekers program participants whether you are looking for a job or hope to fill an opening.

Job Seekers
If you plan to be a job seeker in San Diego, please email your resume to Lawrence Fan, COSIDA Job Seekers chair, at ltfan@email.sjsu.edu before June 27.

Resumes should be no longer than two pages. Pack 20 copies of your resume and place your resume on a flash drive. Bring resume-quality bond paper and copies of your work samples with you.

The Job Seekers area will open Saturday, June 30 at 1:00 p.m. Committee members will conduct a 30-minute orientation.

All job holders will be asked to provide job seekers with a 5-10 minute presentation about an available position. Presentations will begin on June 30 at 2:30 p.m. and, if necessary, will continue Monday, July 2, at 2:15 p.m. Schedules will be posted.

Job Holders
Prior to June 27, you can email your job announcement to Lawrence Fan at ltfan@email.sjsu.edu. Please indicate whether or not you will be in San Diego and if you will conduct formal or informal interviews. Bring copies of your job announcement with you.

If possible, report to the Job Seekers area, Saturday, June 30, between 1:00 and 1:30 p.m. A Job Seekers committee member will schedule a 5-10 minute presentation to job seekers.

The presentation should cover the job requirements, the characteristics you are seeking and the university or organization. The purpose of the presentation is to generate positive interaction between job seekers and job holders in a no-obligation environment.

Any questions prior to the Workshop can be directed by email to Lawrence Fan at ltfan@email.sjsu.edu or by calling (408) 924-1217.
