Michigan's Retyi Wins International Award For Writing
Richard Retyi, Assistant Director for U-M Athletic Media Relations, was the recipient of an international award for outstanding writing for his "In Their Shoes" feature article in 'M' -- the official program of Michigan Athletics -- announced by the judges of the 13th annual Communicator Awards (June 21).
Retyi's "In Their Shoes" feature earned The Award of Excellence for feature writing. The honor is awarded to those whose ability to communicate puts them among the best in the field.
The "In Their Shoes" feature pitted Retyi against U-M athletes in their own sports in a tongue-in-cheek battle of skill in volleyball, gymnastics and swimming. The article originally ran in 'M', with additional episodes appearing on MGoBlue.com.
Retyi is in his fourth year at the University of Michigan, primarily working with the volleyball and women's gymnastics teams as well as coordinating all multimedia content for MGoBlue.com. He graduated with a Bachelor's of Education from McGill University in 2000 where his magazine, The Red Herring, was named Students Society of McGill University Publication of the Year in 1998.
The 13th Annual Communicator Awards is the leading international awards program that recognizes creative excellence in the communication field. Founded by communication professionals more than a decade ago, winners have come from all 50 states and numerous foreign countries.
