University of Iowa Athletic Director Gary Barta has announced that Aaron Blau has been named to the position of assistant director of sports information. Blau, 23, replaces Tony Wirt, who resigned June 22.

Blau, a native of Latimer, IA, graduated from the University of Iowa in 2007 with a double major in Journalism and Mass Communications and Sports Studies, along with a minor in American Studies. He served as a student assistant in the Iowa sports information office for five years before being named to the full-time position. Blau will serve as the primary contact for the Hawkeye women’s volleyball and softball teams.
