Former South Carolina Staffer Joins OSU Media Relations
Gavin Lang has been named associate media relations director at Oklahoma State University, the school has announced. He will work closely with the Cowboy football and wrestling programs and oversee publicity efforts for the men's and women's track and field teams.
Lang has 10 years of media relations experience and has worked closely with football programs in the Southeastern Conference and the Big Ten.
Lang comes to OSU from the University of South Carolina, where he has served as associate director of media relations. He has spent the last three years working with the Gamecock football, women's basketball and women's golf teams. Among the highlights of his time at South Carolina was handling the publicity efforts for 40-year-old wide receiver Tim Frisby, helping Frisby win several national awards and land in-studio guest appearances on The Late Show With David Letterman and The Tonight Show with Jay Leno, in addition to lengthy features on ESPN's College Football Gameday and The Today Show.
"I am very excited and honored for the opportunity to join the Oklahoma State athletics team," Lang said. "It is an exciting time in Stillwater and the energy coming from OSU Athletics is apparent. Oklahoma State is on the brink of big things and I look forward to doing everything I can to add to the momentum that has already been established."
Prior to working at South Carolina, Lang served three years in the media relations office at Indiana, assisting with publicity for the football program and overseeing the media relations efforts for the women's basketball, women's soccer and outdoor track and field teams. In addition, he was responsible for the cover and interior design of all Indiana's media guides, several of which were recognized with regional and national awards.
A native of Los Angeles, Lang graduated from San Diego State University in 2001 with a degree in journalism. He served as the publicist for the baseball, men's and women's soccer and men's and women's tennis teams in addition to assisting with nearly every other SDSU sport during his four years working in the Aztec media relations office.
Lang is married to the former Christy Tolin.
