Lewis University Director of Athletics Dan Schumacher has announced the hiring of Ron Deuter as Sports Information Director.

Deuter, who served as Lewis' assistant SID for the past two years, replaces former SID Mickey Smith, who resigned in May to pursue a career in the financial services industry.

A 2000 graduate of Northern Michigan University with a bachelor's degree in public relations, Deuter has more than seven years of experience in sports media relations.

Prior to being hired at Lewis, Deuter spent four seasons as the media services manager for the league office of arenafootball2. He also worked at the team level in Arena Football and held a media relations position with the Detroit Vipers of the now-defunct International Hockey League.

"Ron excelled in his role as assistant SID and I know he will do the same as SID. We look forward having Ron as part of our staff for many years to come," Schumacher said.
