Rollins' Nate Weyant Promoted to Assistant Athletic Director for Athletic Communications

Rollins College Director of Athletics Pennie Parker has announced the promotion of Nate Weyant to Assistant Athletic Director for Athletic Communications. In addition, the Sports Information Department has been renamed to Athletic Communications.

Weyant will continue to lead the Athletic Communications office, including serving as primary media contact for all of Rollins' 22 varsity sports, while also overseeing marketing initiatives and handling various administrative duties for Rollins athletics.

Under Weyant, Rollins has introduced a variety of new options for fans, parents and alumni; including a new Web site, podcasts, streaming audio and starting with the 2007-08 season, live streaming video for many Rollins home events.

"Rollins athletics is extremely fortunate to have someone as talented as Nate in charge of our communications," said Director of Athletics Pennie Parker. Our Web site as well as efforts to podcast events and provide video broadcasting are examples of Nate's vision for our department. Our student-athletes and sports programs benefit from his expertise and the exposure we gain in the multi-media market."

Weyant came to Rollins as Sports Information intern in August 2003 and moved onto Seminole Community College following the 2003-04 academic year. While with SCC, he assisted in media relations and marketing and oversaw communications for the College as well as media relations for Raiders' sports. He returned to Rollins and became Sports Information Director in February 2005, succeeding mentor Dean Hybl.

A native of Bettsville, Ohio, Weyant earned a bachelor's degree in communications from Wilmington College (Ohio) with a concentration in public relations and journalism. He worked under Bill Salyer as a student assistant for three years in the Quakers' sports information office and served as sports editor for the Witness. Weyant was also a two-time NCAA Division III All-American for the WC track and field team.
