Reitnour Promoted to Director of Athletic Communications at Canisius
Canisius College Director of Athletics Bill Maher announced today that Matt Reitnour has been promoted to Director of Athletic Communications.
Reitnour is entering his seventh year at Canisius, with the six previous years being spent as an assistant within the College’s Athletic Communications department. He joined the athletic staff at Canisius before the 2001-02 school year as the department’s graduate assistant and then moved to full-time status in August 2003. A native of Zionsville, Pa., Reitnour previously served as Canisius’ media contact for women’s basketball, softball and volleyball and covered media relations for three teams that earned a berth into NCAA Tournaments.
A 2001 graduate of Wilkes University, Reitnour has volunteered at numerous NCAA Championship events. He has served as a media escort at four NCAA Division I Men’s Basketball Tournaments where he worked with coaches such as Bob Knight, Mike Krzyzewski, Jim Boeheim and Jim Calhoun. He also worked on the official statistics crew at the 2003 Frozen Four in Buffalo.
Reitnour earned his bachelor’s degree in communications from Wilkes and his master’s degree in sport administration from Canisius in May 2004. He is a member of the College Sports Information Directors of America (CoSIDA) and the Eastern College Athletic Conference Sports Information Directors Association (ECAC-SIDA).
