Wilson Named Sports Information Director at Park University

Park University athletic director Claude English named Steve Wilson Sports Information Director, effective July 23, 2007.

Wilson comes to Park from the National Association of Intercollegiate Athletics (NAIA), where he served as Manager of Sports Information and Media Services for the past seven months. While with the NAIA, Wilson served as primary media contact for NAIA championship events, as well as maintaining and updating the NAIA's Official Web site, www.naia.org.

He was also responsible for NAIA Championship Publications and served as an NAIA on-site media relations representative for the NAIA Football Championship game (Savannah, Tenn.), Buffalo Funds-NAIA Division I Men's Basketball Tournament (Kansas City, Mo.) and the Avista-NAIA World Series (Lewiston, Idaho).

Prior to coming to the Kansas City-based organization, Wilson spent two years as Assistant Media Relations Director at Southland Conference member Texas State University, working as the primary contact for Bobcat baseball, women's basketball and volleyball in addition to serving as the secondary contact for Texas State football.

Wilson worked at NAIA member Kansas Wesleyan as a graduate assistant in sports information following a five-year stint in sports radio at KSAL, which included four years as a part-time play-by-play announcer and one year as a full-time account executive and on-air personality. He is a 2004 graduate of Kansas State University's A.Q. Miller School of Journalism and Mass Communications.

At Park, Wilson will oversee publicity efforts for Park's 15 championship sports and will be responsible for production of media guides and other promotional publications for Pirate Athletics. He will also play a role in game day operations as well as the day-to-day operations of the Pirate Club, Park's Athletics support organization.

Wilson and his wife, Sarah, reside in Overland Park, Kan.
