Wakefield joins the Southeastern Conference Office

Ayanna Wakefield joins the Southeastern Conference Office as an Assistant Media Relations Director announced SEC Commissioner Mike Slive.

Wakefield joins the SEC after spending five and half years in the University of South Carolina Athletic Department. She also worked in the Auburn University Athletic Media Relations office from 1997-2000.

"I am very excited about the opportunity to work at the Southeastern Conference. Working at two SEC Schools, like Auburn and South Carolina, has made my commitment to the league strong. I look forward to working with all of the institutions and becoming part of a very dedicated and highly respected staff," said Wakefield.

Wakefield, who earned a Bachelor of Arts degree in Journalism from the University of Oklahoma in 1997, will oversee the media relations responsibilities for volleyball, cross country, indoor and outdoor track and field, swimming and diving and softball.

"We are pleased to welcome Ayanna to the SEC family," said Slive. "Her knowledge of the league and of our Olympic Sports will be beneficial to our office and our institutions. She will be a very valuable asset to the SEC."
