Abelson Joins UNC Wilmington's Athletic Media Relations Staff
Following a two-year stint as sports information director at Northwood University in West Palm Beach, Fla., Jarrett Abelson has joined UNC Wilmington’s athletic media relations staff as an assistant.
A native of Rochester, N.Y., Abelson, who served a one-year post-graduate internship with the Seahawks in 2004-05, returns to the Port City after working two years as Northwood’s first full-time SID.
At Northwood, Abelson was responsible for the promotion and public relation responsibilities of the department’s 11 athletic programs. He also handled media requests for the highly publicized return of coaching legend Rollie Massimino to the sidelines as Northwood’s Director of Basketball Operations/Head Men’s Basketball Coach.
Abelson, 26, began his career with a pair of post-graduate internships at Ohio and UNCW. He earned his Bachelor’s Degree in Sports Management from Dayton, where he also served as a student assistant for three years.
