Vatter Completes Kent State Media Relations Staff

With the start of the fall semester rapidly approaching, Kent State has rounded out its media relations staff with the addition of Todd Vatter as an Assistant Director of Athletic Communications. KSU Director of Athletics Laing Kennedy made the announcement on Thursday.

"I'm always very impressed at this time of year at the caliber of staff we are able to recruit and Todd is no exception," said Kennedy. "He brings experience, energy, and enthusiasm to our sports media efforts."

Vatter will assist with the overall media relations efforts of the Golden Flashes'17 athletic programs while serving as the primary media contact for the soccer, men's basketball and golf teams.

Originally from Columbus, Vatter returns to the state of Ohio after spending the previous five years in the Sports Information Office at Wagner College in Staten Island, N.Y.  The Seahawks' Assistant Athletic Director for Media Relations for the past two seasons, he oversaw the publicity and game day operations for 22 athletic programs and was directly responsible for the football, men's basketball, softball and women's lacrosse teams.

Prior to his stint on Staten Island, Vatter was an Assistant Sports Information Director at Marist College and also interned with the United States Olympic Committee in Colorado Springs, Colo.

A 2001 graduate of Shawnee State University, Vatter was a two-year letterwinner in both basketball and cross-country, receiving NAIA Scholar-Athlete Honors in basketball for the 1999-00 and 2000-01 seasons. In addition, the sports management major also worked in the sports information office for three years as a student assistant.
