Norwich Names Christian Anderson Sports Information Director

Norwich University named Christian Anderson its new sports information director earlier this month. Anderson arrives at the Northfield, Vt., campus after spending the last four years at the U.S. Military Academy as a member of Army’s Office of Athletic Communications.

Anderson will provide sports information for each of Norwich’s 16 varsity sports as well as its men’s and women’s rugby club programs.

White at Army, Anderson worked under the supervision of sports information director Bob Beretta. Anderson was involved in all aspects of the athletic communications operation since his arrival in August 2003. After beginning his career as an assistant, he moved quickly into the role of assistant director after just two years. Anderson covered several sports during his tenure at West Point, including men’s basketball.

During the 2006-07 academic year, Anderson served as the primary point of contact for Army’s men’s basketball team as well as the secondary point of contact for the Black Knights’ historic football program, traveling on road trips to assist with media coverage. Anderson had the privilege of working at the last four Army-Navy football games in Philadelphia, Pa., assisting the media’s coverage of the prestigious event.

Anderson has already copped eight awards for his media guides from the College Sport Information Directors of America (CoSIDA), including four “Best District” plaudits.

Anderson graduated from Syracuse University’s renowned S.I Newhouse School of Public Communications in May 2003 with a bachelor’s degree in public relations. While completing his undergraduate studies, he volunteered in the Syracuse University Athletic Communications Office under the direction of sports information director Sue Edson. The South Sutton, N.H., native assisted in the production of media guides and game notes, wrote feature stories and press releases and assisted the staff at various Syracuse athletic events.
