Meyers Named University of Maine at Farmington Interim Sports Information Director

University of Maine at Farmington Director of Athletics, Fitness & Recreation Julie Davis is pleased to name Marc Meyers as the UMF interim sports information director. Meyers comes to the university from The Times Record, a mid-coast Maine newspaper where he served as an assistant sports editor for over four years, covering local high school sports and Bowdoin College athletics.

“We are thrilled to welcome Meyers to UMF,” said Davis, “he brings us a remarkable balance of experience in sports writing and the technical side of collegiate sports information. As a former assistant sports editor, he understands how various media work and has a great relationship with his peers around the state. Furthermore, he understands and appreciates the educational and developmental value of what we do in Division III athletics.”

Among his first priorities at UMF, Meyers plans on concentrating on the university’s athletics website as the central tool for promoting the department. “I am excited about the future of the athletics programs here at UMF,” said Meyers, “they are an important part of the academic community, and enhance the intellectual, physical, and social development of the students.”

Meyers, originally from Bath, received his B.A. in communications from the University of Hartford, in Connecticut, and completed his post-graduate internship in media relations at Rhode Island College. He resides in Farmington.
