Veniskey Joins to Canisius Athletic Communications Staff
Canisius College Director of Athletics Bill Maher announced today that Jason Veniskey has been hired as the school’s new assistant director of Athletic Communications. Veniskey will be responsible for helping promote the College’s ice hockey, women’s soccer, men’s lacrosse and women’s lacrosse programs.
Veniskey joins the Canisius staff after serving a one-year term as a full-time intern in the Athletic Communications Department at Syracuse University. While at Syracuse, Veniskey served as the primary contact for the volleyball, cross country/track & field, women’s rowing and women’s lacrosse teams, while serving as the secondary assistant for the Orange’s football and women’s basketball teams. He helped coordinate Syracuse’s student-staff for home football and women’s basketball games and also held the responsibility as the host Sports Information Director for the 2007 BIG EAST Women’s Lacrosse Championship in the Carrier Dome.
A 2006 graduate of Ithaca College with his bachelor’s degree in sports information and communications, Veniskey served as a student assistant at Ithaca for two years where he covered men’s soccer, men’s basketball and men’s lacrosse. He has volunteered at a number of events, including the 2005 NCAA Division I Men’s Basketball Regional Tournament in Syracuse, N.Y., the 2006 San Juan Shootout and the 2007 Section III High school Basketball Tournament.
