COSIDA BOARD OFFICER'S CALL MINUTES - October 2, 2008
OCTOBER 2, 2008
President Nick Joos did a roll call.
I. Joos said he visited the San Antonio Marriott property that will host the 2009 CoSIDA Workshop. He said he had a great meeting with about a dozen people who could assist on a local organizing committee. He said they were excited . He said the Marriott was a great property and will serve CoSIDA well. He said 90 percent of the meetings, etc., would be on one floor.
II. Joos said he had received an email from NACDA following a conference call with their leadership. He said they are putting together a proposal for CoSIDA and would get back to the board with their information. There was a lengthy discussion.
III. College Division Representative Jim Seavey said the Academic All-American Committee had conducted three conference calls. He said the leadership group had a call with ICS about putting the Academic All-America Hall of Fame nominating and voting process online. He said Brian McCann had resigned his position as a co-chair and had been replaced by Kevin Lackey of Rose-Hulman. He said the soccer nominating period would end Oct. 14. He said that he was working on an educational piece for the membership on nominating student athletes. He said the committee was also working with Dick Enberg on forming an Academic All-America Strategic Advisory Board..
IV. Joos said the next board call would be Oct. 23.
V. Second Vice President Larry Dougherty said the social committee was looking at off-site options for Tuesday in San Antonio – possibly at the Alamo or Assembly Hall.
VI. Third Vice President Doug Walker asked secretary Jeff Hodges to forward him some CoSIDA envelopes and letterhead.
VII. Treasurer Dave Wohlhueter said there were already 1,900 CoSIDA members paid for 2009, with the first Academic All-America nominating deadline approaching. He said there are still a few outstanding sponsorships from Tampa that are owed to CoSIDA.
VIII. Lawrence Fan asked if the “CoSIDA Membership On-line registration information could be made more prominent on the front page of the website.
IX. Ed Carpenter reviewed some of CoSIDA’s sponsorship possibilities.
