What Can the Virtual Pressbox™ Do For Me?

What Can the Virtual Pressbox™ Do For Me?

Fall sports are winding down. Winter sports are winding up. You’re pressed for time and resources. What is the Virtual Pressbox and how can it make my job easier?

College Fanz worked closely with CoSIDA members in the early development stages to make the Virtual Pressbox fast and efficient. The team at College Fanz™ Sports Network continues to work with CoSIDA to make the Virtual Pressbox the most effective tool for SIDs as possible.

Did you know it only takes a few clicks in under five minutes to enter your entire basketball schedules into the Virtual Pressbox? Thanks to our extensive database and the easy-to-use drop-down menus, you can add your entire men’s and women’s winter sports schedule in minutes, without having to type more than three characters – just point and click.

It’s just as simple to update your scores, whether in-game or post-game, as well as to add game notes and feature stories. It’s also a breeze to add photographs and video clips, too.

And when you’re done, it’s broadcast around the world through America’s College Scoreboard,

which is live on the College Fanz home page as well as on the personal web sites and social networks of everyone who has added the pre-programmed widget. So the parents of your student-athletes, as well as the student-athletes, their friends and family, your friends and family, and alumni can get the news about your teams as it happens.

Schools like St. Cloud State, DePauw, Neumann College, Holy Family, Georgia College, Salem International have incorporated the Virtual Pressbox into their regular daily routine.

And now even more schools can see the scope of College Fanz in action. In mid-November, College Fanz acquired the Victory Sports Network, the dominant voice of the National Association of Intercollegiate Athletics (NAIA).

“This is a tremendous opportunity for the Victory Sports Network and the thousands of fans of NAIA schools that have made VSN successful to expand the coverage and awareness of the nearly 300 small college sports programs,” said Jason Dannelly, the founder of Victory Sports Network, which is based in Grand Island, Nebraska. “This is the biggest news ever about the Victory Sports Network and fans of all things NAIA.”

ESPN Founder and College Fanz CEO Bill Rasmussen said, “Adding the enthusiasm, relationships and resources of Jason and the Victory Sports Network to College Fanz continues our quest to develop a single site for fans of all college sports to enjoy. Jason has worked tirelessly since 2002 as a champion of NAIA sports and we are delighted to join him in providing broader coverage of thousands of dedicated student-athletes who represent NAIA schools.”

The Victory Sports Network web site and other properties will be re-branded as College Fanz as a result of the acquisition. Victory Sports Network has been the leading voice for NAIA college sports through its web sites, print magazines, and syndicated radio broadcasts. Each of those properties will continue under College Fanz, with Dannelly assuming a management position within the organization.

Coupled with the enhanced features on the College Fanz home page, as well as the new widgets that let friends, family, fanz and alumni embed their team’s results on social network web sites, the addition of Victory Sports Network makes College Fanz even more compelling for our corporate partners at CoSIDA.

There’s even more coming soon but we can’t talk about that yet! All our efforts are a part of our ongoing commitment to CoSIDA, and our goal of simplifying an SID’s workload while enhancing each school’s online exposure and opportunities. Together, we’re building something that will make your valuable work more visible and more effective on behalf of your school and your student-athletes.

Our pledge to CoSIDA is to continue to enhance and update the Virtual Pressbox for the benefit of the membership, the colleges and universities that CoSIDA members represent and their student-athletes.
